If you find that FahMon can't display any data for the project you are currently working on, even after you update the project list, this usually means that either:
- The project information isn't on the project list published by Stanford
- The project information isn't on the project list now, but has been in the past
The easiest way to check this is to select the client with missing data and press F4. This will bring up the fahinfo.org WU lookup page.
If it comes up with a message saying "No server exists for this WU", then the data has never been on the Stanford project list.
If you get some information about the server, and optionally about CPU performances, then the fahinfo.org database has a record of this WU that can be used.
To get the data from fahinfo.org into FahMon, you need to download the project data file which you can get to by clicking the "FahMon Data File" on the fahinfo.org menu bar.
This will download a compressed file with the .tbz2 file extension which contains fahinfo.org project database in a format FahMon understands.
Alternatively use this direct link: FahMon data file on fahinfo.org
However, first, you will need to decompress the .tbz2 file. This is a standard GPL licensed compression format (i.e. completely free) that is more or less ubiquitous on Linux, but less common on Windows. To decompress the file in Windows, you will need an archiving program like WinZip, WinRAR or 7zip.
After decompressing the tbz2 file you should have an html file called fahmon_wus.html. This is the file FahMon can read.
To tell FahMon to read this file instead of the online source, you need to go into the Preference dialog, and onto the Advanced tab. Once there, tick the box that says "Use a local file for project data" and then browse for the fahmon_wus.html file.
After you've set this, close the Preferences dialog, and then select "Download new projects" from the FahMon menu. This will process the new data file, dissertation writing and load the values into the project database.
After you've loaded the new data file, you will need to disable this as a data source, so that FahMon will continue to stay up-to-date with the online source.
To do this, just untick the "Use a local file for project data" box again.
