| #231 | OS X: Crash on unrecognized locale | OS X Port | OS X Conversion | defect | 11/01/09 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Trying to start the FahMon? app on OS X gives two dialog popups:
* FahMon? 2.3.2b - this locale is not supported by the system and FahMon? fails to start. This is a blocker, as the application doesn't start and cannot be used. I don't expect FahMon? to be localized for every locale in the world, but I would expect it to default to English if it doesn't recognize the locale.

| #85 | FahMon fails to close correctly on shutdown (Linux) | GUI | defect | 01/20/08 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Several events are not triggered when you logoff or shutdown in Linux (using KDE at least). This means that some benchmarks etc may not be saved if you don't close FahMon before shutting down or logging off. As far as I can tell this is a bug in wxWidgets whereby the required events are simply not handled at all. This bug will remain milestoneless until I can work out a sensible fix for it. |

| #144 | Using fahmon on network shares (e.g. "//123.123.123.123/Folding" Causes millions of page faults | Monitoring system | 2.4.0 | defect | 05/29/08 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
I am running fahmon 2.3b on Windows XP SP2. I have fahmon monitoring 30 network shared "folding@home" folders in a room. so \\123.123.123.123\Folding
and so on. After running for a little under 12 hours I have over a million page faults. On another computer in another room I have a similar setup, fahmon is watching 12 shares in a similar manner. On a fresh start of fahmon, I see that the page faults come when the client is updating it's stats from the network shares. I get around 4,000 page faults every time the program updates. Some of the time the program stops responding, and about 10 seconds later when it starts responding it goes up one more page fault (this happens after an update). The program is in general very unstable while monitoring clients in this manner, fahmon will crash multiple times a day. I'm not sure if this is because of the way I have the clients set up or not, but it makes this program very unusable. Also, I have this program running on Ubuntu 8.04 as well, monitoring the same systems, and it crashes a lot as well. I'm new to trac, I'm marking this as major.. Please remark the priority if I got it wrong. Thanks. |

| #151 | Mac OSX FaHMon crashes | Monitoring system | 2.4.0 | defect | 07/05/08 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

It crashed overnight and several times today. I grabbed the report that it offered to send to Apple - hopefully gives some clues. |

| #197 | 2.3.2b crash in osx | OS X Port | 2.4.0 | defect | 03/16/09 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The OSX client of FAH Mon crashes regularly for me. I have it monitoring 2 other OSX computers and one Win. It seems to crash more frequently with certain clients more then others, but in the end the only time it won't crash is when monitoring the local instance of FAH. |

| #207 | Wrong core name + clients disappearing (2.3.99.1) | GUI | 2.4.0 | defect | 04/22/09 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
I was just checking my stats, while i noticed the core name was wrong (it showed my username as being the core name). I've included a screenshot. A few days ago i had a strange error, but forgot to take a screenshot... after the error 8 of my 10 clients were erased. I had to add them all again. I've never had this before with the previous versions. Hope this helps. Thanks for your time. |

| #214 | Lockup under XP32, VMWare Player and notfred when VM gets stopped | Monitoring system | 2.4.0 | defect | 06/03/09 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Hello, I have a dual Xeon Dell 670 workstation running XP 32bit SP3, running the latest FAHMon client (2.3.99.1 installed this morning). Today, installed latest VMWare Player and notfred client (trying to get more points from SMP clients for CPCHimps!), and got it all set up working OK, including FAHmon clients pointing at the IP addresses of the two VMs I'd created - all working hunky dory. As soon as I stopped and closed a VMWare client, FAHMon locked up and I couldn't get any control back over it. If I killed it via task manager and restarted it (with the VM still off), it started and locked up immediately - no messages or anything, as the client obviously can't detect the IP address of the (now non-existent) VM. Nothing looks odd in the logs, so I haven't included them. Please let me know if there are any other files or traces inside the machine I could send to assit. Hope this is enough to point you in the right direction. Regards, Craig... |

| #15 | smb:// protocol for Linux users | Monitoring system | Interesting future ideas | enhancement | 10/25/07 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Investigate the possibility of hooking into libsmbclient on Linux, so the smb:// kioslave can be used to access networked clients over samba. This should remove the need for people to mount SMB shares into their local filesystem, which would be good for those new to Linux. |

| #136 | Cycling through PPD calculation methods | GUI | Interesting future ideas | enhancement | 04/15/08 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Hi Andrew! While you can cycle through ETA styles by pressing F9 it would be nice to do something similar with the PPD calculation method (F7 or F10 are still unused ;-) ). This would also include an indicator in the main window for the currently shown calculation method. However, one question is where to put this indicator. IMHO the status bar could be fine, although there isn't much room left. Something like "PPD style: <String>" would do it, where <String> comes from the already existing strings used in the Preferences dialog for setting the calculation method. (Alternative indicator names: "PPD calculation", "PPD method") In case of an implementation of the suggested function you could clean up the Preferences dialog by removing the entry "Calculate PPD based on" from the tab "Monitoring". IMO it would not make any sense to leave it there. (This actually also applies to the setting "Display dates as".)
Have a nice day |

| #138 | Request: Load info from "Simple web page" from remote FahMon locally | Web Output | Interesting future ideas | enhancement | 05/07/08 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Let me see if I can explain my idea. I just moved into an apartment, so I took my main comp and laptop with me. However, at home there are still 5 machines running F@H. I use the "Export Simple Web Page" feature to monitor the clients to make sure the SMP machine is behaving. I also run a copy of FahMon? locally to monitor my main machine and my laptop. Here's my feature request: load the info from the remote webpage into my local copy of FahMon? so all of the info is in one spot. Here is the simple webpage: http://legoman666.dyndns.org:45678/lol.html and using my leet GIMP skillz, I have created a mockup of what I had in mind: http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c241/legoman666/fahmon.jpg |

Andrew, It would be nice for translators to get a notification (e.g. by mail), when a new release of FahMon? is coming up and updated translations are needed for that release. I think that most of the translators inserted their e-mail addresses in the po files. Mark |

| #120 | Make FahMon run as a Service | Other | Interesting future ideas | enhancement | 03/28/08 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
That way it can run when no one is logged into the computer so that benchmarks are accurate, xyz files are created for those WU's that aren't crunched while the user is logged in. This would be especially helpful for those of us who run this tool on servers where we don't want an active user logged in at all times, yet still want all the valuable information FahMon? has to offer. |

| #165 | Time display in Trac: wrong time zone | Website | enhancement | 09/02/08 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Hi Andrew! The time displayed for entries (tickets, comments) in the bug tracker Trac are something like UTC-6. This is a little strange. I haven't found any setting for the time zone. Since this isn't adjustable, wouldn't it be better to display UTC? Greetings Mark |

Display this: http://vengeancelacrosse.site88.net/FahMon/WEB_APP.html And this: http://vengeancelacrosse.site88.net/FahMon/FAHlog.log in the same window. Time saver for determining if logging in to remote desktop is necessary. |

| #223 | Identify CPU & GPU and Submit to fahinfo.org and gpu.fahinfo.org | Monitoring system | Interesting future ideas | enhancement | 08/01/09 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
It would be nice if FahMon? could identify the CPU or GPU. Then submit data to fahinfo.org. FahMon? already submits data to jmol. One small thing would to choose what columns you want to view. I am not sure how FahMon? would find out the CPU and GPU information. Maybe with permission FahMon? can onetime only put something in the client folder. Any suggestions? |

| #97 | Buttons to be translated | GUI | translation | 02/11/08 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Hello Andrew! The dialogs for Benchmarks and Preferences contain buttons, that cannot be translated (Ok, Cancel, Close), because they are not part of the fahmon.pot file. On the other hand a translation would not really be needed, if these buttons got their contents from the operating system's language defaults. However, I don't know if wxWidgets can handle this. Greetings Mark |
